ABOUT THE CLUB
Stonehaven Running Club is a welcoming and sociable running community based in the North East of Scotland. Whether you're a complete beginner, a seasoned runner, or somewhere in between, our club is open to everyone. We offer a range of structured sessions throughout the month designed to suit different abilities and goals, from improving fitness to preparing for races.
In addition to our scheduled runs, we also hold non-running events, giving members the chance to connect, stay motivated, and enjoy the social side of running. With a focus on inclusivity, encouragement, and exploring a variety of terrains, Stonehaven Running Club is the perfect place to lace up your trainers and join a supportive community of fellow runners.
All runners welcome, from beginners to pros. Join our supportive community for weekly runs, local events, and shared goals. Stay motivated, make friends, and enjoy every step of the journey.
We have club training sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evening each week. See the Training Sessions page for more on what's scheduled over the coming months.
Meet our friendly running club coaches, dedicated to supporting runners of all levels. Whether you're just starting out or chasing a new PB, they're here to help you succeed.

Club runners calculate their performance level by utilizing age-grading tables from the World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA) to determine a percentage for each race they enter, representing an age-group performance rating.
Members can calculate their WAVA score using online calculators, we use the one linked below:
http://www.howardgrubb.co.uk/athletics/wmalookup15.htmlMembers aim to meet one of three club standards:
-
Bronze
-
Silver
-
Gold
These are gained by attaining specific performance levels in multiple races throughout the year.
-
-
Bronze Award: Complete 4 formal events, 1 of which must be a minimum of 10k, 2 of which must be over 55% WAVA.
-
Silver Award: Complete 5 formal events, 1 of which must be a minimum of a half marathon and 3 of which must be over 62.5% WAVA.
-
Gold Award: Complete 6 formal events, 1 of which must be a minimum of a marathon, 4 of which must be over 70% WAVA.
Any formal events that count towards the WAVA scores must be at different distances and be 1 mile or longer.
-
Qualifying races must be completed between January and November of the current calendar year, organized by an athletic association, and accurately measured.
Members notify the club via email:
clubstandards@stonehavenrunningclub.co.uk
when they achieve a club standard, providing race details in a specified format for verification.
For each event that you want to count towards the club standard you must include
-
event
-
date
-
distance
-
your age
-
your time
-
your WMA%
-
CLUB STANDARDS
The club standard provides members with the opportunity to aim for a performance level taking into account factors such as race time, distance, sex, and age, allowing for comparisons across different age groups.
